blue jays baseball game – a weekend outing in toronto.

mohawk-bluejays-words skydome

take me out to the ball game,
take me out with the crowd.
buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
i don’t care if i never get back,
let me root, root, root for the home team,
if they don’t win it’s a shame,                                   (it was – sad face.)
for it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
at the old ball game!

in my early childhood years i have vivid memories of my dad taking my brother and i, on weekends, to the school yard just down the road from our house and throwing some baseballs around.  we never played a full game – but we would get to swing the bat, catch the ball in our oversized mitts and pretend like we hit a home run by running all the bases.  so much fun!

in highschool i was able to go on a few field trips that brought us to a baseball stadium.  (thank you, Mr. Masters music class)  and now – in my adult years, i still get giddy heading out to a baseball game.  it’s the one time i’ve noticed that i don’t mind being in and amongst the crowd of people.
it’s the fun, rowdy atmosphere – the smell of hot dogs – the obnoxious yellers in the stands – i could go on…

but – i’d rather know – what’s a baseball memory that you have?
happy sunday – wherever you are!
