a is for avocado.
there is nothing to be afraid of. there is smooth, creaminess beneath that pebbled dark skin.
a trick to know if an avocado is past its prime – is to flick off that tiny little stem knob at the top. if it shows a nice pale green colour, that’s wonderful! take it home and eat it up! if it’s brown or fuzzy, well… i would avoid.
tasty for breakfast, lunch or dinner. simply take a knife and slice through the top of the avocado, hitting the inner pit. use the knife to follow the pit around the entire avocado, cutting it in half. with a slight twist you will have two halves. the pit can easily be removed by a small karate chop to the centre of the pit and a quick twist of the wrist. use whatever utensil you’d like to remove the delicious flesh. sometimes i’ll eat the entire avocado with just a squeeze of lime juice and a sprinkling of olive oil and s&p.
what’s your favourite way to eat an avocado?
